Art (evening job)
Hi everyone! I am a marine creature (nautilus) who loves mixing art + science to explain scientific processes in an easy and fun way! Since I was a tiny nautilus, I always liked to paint as a hobbie. But during a critical moment in my PhD time, I decided to show my drawings to humans. After that, I had several requests of illustrations and graphical designs. This helped me to feel again the energy and motivation that are needed to keep fighting for what you want!
I should say that everything learning is self-taught. But I should also say that I put a lot of passion and affection in all my drawings. Moreover, having a scientific background is easier to visualize and communicate complex scientific concepts! So far, I had the opportunity to collaborate in different projects creating conceptual diagrams, thesis covers, branding, naturalist illustrations among others!
Welcome to my artistic side!

Science (day job)
Hi everyone! I am Sara, a scientific researcher with more than 10 years of experience in microbial ecology and biogeochemistry in aquatic ecosystems. My research focuses on the interactions between different dimensions of microbial communities along environmental gradients. With this, we can understand the ecological role of the microbial community in aquatic systems to predict future changes in response to anthropogenic and climate change.
During these years, I had the opportunity to work in different research projects in Spain, Costa Rica and Canada. I also had the opportunity to participate in two oceanographic cruises in the Atlantic Ocean and in the Gibraltar Strait. Currently, I am working with the flow cytometry dataset of the pan-Canadian Lake Pulse project, which covers more than 650 lakes across Canada!
Welcome to my scientific side!
